Roundtable On Sustainable Palm Oil
The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global, multi-stakeholder initiative on sustainable palm oil. Members of RSPO, and participants in its activities come from many different backgrounds, including plantation companies, processors and traders, consumer goods manufacturers and retailers of palm oil products, financial institutions, environmental NGOs and social NGOs, from many countries that produce or use palm oil. Since 2004, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) who is a non-profit organisation has been transforming the palm oil industry in collaboration with the global supply chain, to put it on a sustainable path. The RSPO has developed a set of environmental and social criteria which companies must comply with in order to produce Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). When they are properly applied, these criteria can help to minimise the negative impact of palm oil cultivation on the environment and communities in palm oil-producing regions. The RSPO has more than 2,500 members worldwide who represent all links along the palm oil supply chain. They have committed to produce, source and/or use sustainable palm oil certified by the RSPO.
Bumitama is a member of the RSPO since 2007 and have a timebound plan to complete RSPO certification of all of our mills and plasma smallholders by the year end 2024 where land use rights permit (HGU) has been secured.
